The Champions League Twenty20 is an international Twenty20 cricket competition between top clubs from India, Australia, England, South Africa, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and West Indies. Airtel Champions LeagueThe competition was launched in 2008 as a response to the success of national Twenty20 domestic cricket leagues, most notably the Indian Premier League. The first edition was set to take place from late September to early October 2008 in India, after the tournament organisers resolved various teething problems that had put the inaugural tournament under some doubt, but it was later announced that the tournament would be held from December 3 to December 10, 2008.

The tournament was postponed again following terrorist attacks in Mumbai in November 2008 and later cancelled, with the first tournament now scheduled for October 2009.
Indian mobile service Bharti Airtel has bought the title sponsorship rights of the champions league for the reported amount of rupees 170 crores. This tournament is also know as Airtel Champions League Twenty20.

Twenty20 Champions League Group and Fixtures
The fixtures have been announced for the Champions League Twenty20, which will be staged in India in October. Teams from India, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and England will play 23 games in New Delhi, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

The first Champions League was due to take place last year, but was postponed following terror attacks in Mumbai. Prize money of US$6m (£3.63m) will be shared between the teams and players.
